Dr. Maria Custer is an equity analyst within the Global Equity Research Team. In her role, she is responsible for the coverage of the Global Health Care and Chemical sectors. Maria has over ten years research experience, focused on the Healthcare sector as well as four years experience working within the pharmaceutical industry.

Before joining Vontobel, Maria worked for Swiss Re, as an analyst within the Global Equities Portfolio Team. Prior to this from 2001 to 2007 Maria was Head of the Global Health Care Team and the Global Nanotechnology Team at Credit Suisse. Maria also has extensive experience working within the pharmaceutical industry having previously worked for Roche as a senior scientist leading a research laboratory within Roche's former Flavors and Fragrances division. Maria started her career at the Institute of Physiology of the University of Zurich as a scientific research assistant working in the field of nephrology.

Maria earned a PhD in Biochemistry and also holds a Master of Science in Biochemistry from the University of Zurich. She also holds a federal diploma for financial analyst and portfolio manager from the Swiss Training Center for Investment Professionals (SFAA).
