Bettina von Hagen serves as CEO of Ecotrust Forest Management (EFM), a for-profit subsidiary of non-profit Ecotrust, based in Portland, Oregon. EFM provides forestland investment management services through its investment funds which are focused on acquiring and managing temperate rainforests in the US for high-quality timber, capital appreciation, job creation and ecosystem services. EFM also serves as the placement agent for Ecotrust’s New Market Tax Credit allocation which helps finance natural resource investments in economically distressed rural communities. Bettina previously served as Vice President at Ecotrust for the Natural Capital Fund, a $20 million fund that invests in key businesses and initiatives in the conservation economy, as well as starting and managing the forestry and ecosystem service programs. Bettina joined Ecotrust in 1993 to help launch Enterprise Cascadia and Shorebank Pacific, which was recently acquired by One PacificCoast Bank. Prior to joining Ecotrust, Bettina was a Vice President at First Interstate Bank of Oregon. Bettina holds an MBA from the University of Chicago and a BA in Biology and History from the University of the Pacific. She currently serves on the boards of the Climate Trust, Forest Trends, Ecotrust Forest Management, and the Verified Carbon Standards Association. She holds Peruvian and US citizenship.
