Mr Seppänen has 14 years of proven track record in sustainable forest management with focus on commercial forest plantations. Previously he has worked 10 years in Latin American pulp and paper industry in plantation management and four years in Indufor Ltd as Senior Forestry Consultant covering Latin America, Europe, South East Asia, China and Africa (plantation feasibility studies, asset valuations and technical advice in management of biological assets). A partner and technical manager in a private teak plantation project in Central America. He holds M.Sc. (1993) and a post-graduate degree (1996) in forest sciences (silviculture and forest management) from University of Helsinki.
