Erna Karrer-Rueedi, Co-Founder and Principal of Eos Entrepreneur Foundation (Eos Stiftung für UnternehmerInnen) is leading coaching initiatives and is providing working capital for social entrepreneurs in Latin America and in remote regions of Switzerland. Erna is an experienced financial services professional and held senior positions at firms such as Credit Suisse, Booz & Co. and Swiss Re in Switzerland and abroad.
She has deep experience in sustainable, ecological and socio-economic development, directing strategic initiatives in emerging risk management, microfinance and in impact investment as well as partnership management in international settings. The excellent analytical capabilities balanced with creativity, intuition and persistency allow her to assume leadership roles in order to solving social and ecological challenges.
Erna has a degree in natural sciences from the University of Fribourg, received a doctorate in environmental science from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich in 1992 and was awarded with a three-year Swiss National Science Foundation post-doc grant for advanced research abroad. In this capacity, she conducted research and lectured, among others, at The Johns Hopkins University and at Yale University.
Dr. Erna Karrer-Rueedi publishes regularly, serves on international boards such as the European Microfinance Platform and Soroptimist International Union Switzerland; she is a well thought-after speaker at conferences.
