Ran Fuchs is the Global Head of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Investing at RiskMetrics Group. Ran started his career in the front office working as a derivative trader for Credit Commercial de France in Tokyo (now HSBC). Ran’s extensive global experience has focused on risk management and alpha generation for institutional investors. After leaving HSBC as Head of the interest-rate derivative desk, Ran joined JPMorgan as derivatives trader in Sydney, later establishing himself as an independent consultant in Australia and Singapore, and subsequently leading Misys’ Asia-Pacific business as Managing Director.

His focus now firmly on helping investors maximize return and manage risk, Ran joined State Street’s division Askari as Asia Pacific regional Managing Director, and was recruited by RiskMetrics Group in 2007 to provide leadership to RiskMetrics Group’s growing credit risk business. Following the expansion of RiskMetrics Group’s ESG Investing Business, Ran turned his front office expertise and deep knowledge of investors’ needs to the ESG arena. As Global Head of RiskMetrics Group’s ESG Investing Business, Ran represents RiskMetrics Group’s unique combination of leadership in the risk management and sustainability industry.

Ran is a sought-after risk and sustainability expert who frequently provides commentary to the media on ESG and risk topics which are being highlighted by the current financial crisis. He holds a Masters Degree in Mathematics from Hebrew University and a Masters Degree in Mathematics & Computer Science from Tokyo’s prestigious Institute of Technology. Ran Fuchs lives with his wife and three daughters in Connecticut. In his spare time, he enjoys sailing, diving, and observing local wildlife.
